Note: Of the eight major variants of Intimate Exchanges, the BBC recorded four: Events on a Hotel Terrace; A Pageant; A Game of Golf; Love in the Mist.
Additional dialogue was provided by Alan Ayckbourn for a short addition to the first scene of each play. On stage, Celia’s key-decision as to whether to smoke a cigarette or not is made in silence. For the radio version, Alan wrote a short piece of dialogue to make it clear what Celia was doing.
